- Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Progressive disease with most patients being at risk of increased cardiovascular disease and death
- Etiology: most common causes of CKD are diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia and inflammation; As of today, there are no cures for CKD. Available treatments are primarily focusing on slowing the disease progression, managing symptoms and preventing complications – making early detection of CKD in type 2 diabetes patients crucial!
- Risk factors: weight, age, gender, comorbidities, increased levels of certain laboratory parameters (urine protein, UACR and related creatinine parameters, anemia, hyperuricemia, …)
Intended data insights & knowledge gain
- Understanding the quantifiable relationship of eGFR & albuminuria measured by UACR to CKD progression, mortality, kidney outcomes, CV events
- Understanding the mean number of eGFR and UACR tests per year per patient with type II diabetes in Germany per KDIGO heatmap category
- Determining the accuracy of UACR tests in comparison to dipstick tests
Bild
Parameters
- Longitudinal, large volume and rich healthcare data collected in near-time.
Analysis results
- Hypertension, cardiovascular events, kidney outcomes
- eGFR, UACR, creatinine (clearance), urine protein
Our solution & impact
Based on Honic RWD, we have analysed the patient disease status, visualized as a KDIGO heatmap, displaying risk stratification, monitoring of kidney function and aiding treatment decisions
- Demonstrate the significance and accuracy of UACR testing in addition to eGFR testing for diagnosis of CKD and its progression
- Generate robust data to influence change at policy level, aiming to improve early CKD detection for type II diabetes patients at risk of developing CKD
