Eltville/Neckarsulm, May 23, 2024: Good news for Germany as a research location: Through a strategic Cooperation between medatixx, Honic can provide medical care data (so-called Real World Data, RWD) from the practice software provider now also via Honic's data platform for researchers worldwide. The cooperation creates one of the largest RWD platforms in Germany. So far, such large-volume health care data directly from medical care have hardly been available or only at great expense - a circumstance that the Health Data Use Act (GDNG), which came into force in March 2024, also aims to change in the medium term.

“Over 2,000 doctors already share their care data for research via our own platform x.panel. Through the cooperation with Honic, this data can now be researched using other data sources that we don't have in x.panel. Honic as a neutral data trustee is the ideal partner, especially since the data protection supervisory authority monitors the data architectures of both companies closely," says Michael Schober, head of platform and business development at medatixx.

“Thanks to the cooperation with medatixx, we can combine data from our existing partners now with medatixx' nationwide care data for healthcare researchers, pharmaceutical companies, medical technology manufacturers and AI developers - in line with Europe's strictest data protection and data protection and data security regulations and requirements,” adds Nora Sagel, Managing Director of Honic.

Through this cooperation, healthcare data from 10 million patients is now available on Honic's platform for medical research. However, every individual research request has to first pass a compliance process, during which patient organizations and scientific representatives have the right to veto, before relevant data for the specific research project is made available anonymously in the Honic analysis environment.

Large-volume care data is becoming increasingly important for modern medical research: They ensure the representativeness of research, show how actual care is impacted by therapeutic innovations and enable timely analyzes of the care situation, for example in the event of a pandemic.
